Edinburgh to Stirling
On Monday, July 27, most of our tour group joined Jimi McRae and other MacRaes in a "re-enactment" of the march of the Wild MacRaes up Arthur's Seat.  Pat and I took that time to tour Holyrood House.  Then we boarded our coaches and headed for Stirling.  Along the way, we made two stops.

The first was at the Tullibardine Distillery, a small, family-run distiller of whisky.  We had lunch in the cafe there and were given a tour of the distillery.

The second was at Sheriffmuir, the site of a major battle in 1715 in one of the Jacobite Rebellions.  The site and battle is important to the MacRaes because almost all of the MacRaes fighting for the Jacobites were killed in the battle.  A monument to those men has been erected by the roadside by the Clan MacRae and the Gathering Rock, where it is thought that the MacRaes fought and died, about a quarter-mile across a bog is protected by the Clan.  Many other MacRaes joined us there for a memorial service with wreaths being laid at the monument and stone.
